We all know that Cement Tiles are generally used for the roof construction of ordinary residential houses or high-end villas, but the snake shaped exhibition pavilion designed by designers Frida and Escovedo is built with cement tiles, which are generally used for roof construction and have a dark color and unique texture. The exhibition pavilion stacks cement tiles in a staggered, plant like arrangement, forming a hollow wall curtain with Mexican characteristics. There is also a triangular pool in the courtyard of the exhibition pavilion, and the roof is covered with mirrors, presenting different visual effects under sunlight. The central axis of the exhibition pavilion extends from south to north, aligning with the direction of the Greenwich Meridian several miles away, emphasizing that the pavilion is also a "timekeeper".
This time, she designed a pavilion with cement tiles, combining two rectangular volumes to create a courtyard space. By using elements of light and water, she created a feeling of Mexican residential architecture and also connected it with the cultural environment of London.
When Escovedo's works are fully displayed, we are still amazed by the innovative application of cement tiles.
